GARDEN CENTRE FIRE

A Long Eaton garden centre is set to close following an arson attack. Between 9.30pm and 10pm on Sunday, December 4th, someone broke into Acton Garden and Aquatic Centre, in Acton Close, Long Eaton, and smashed the window of the café inside. They poured accelerant through the window and set fire to it. Police have posted CCTV footage on their website which shows a man setting fire to the family-run business. The footage shows the suspect running away from the scene as the café is engulfed in flames. The café was completely destroyed by the fire. The heartbroken owner Alan Humphreys said that it now looked like they would have to close. Witnesses or anyone with information should call DC Tom Barry on 101, quoting reference 16000400964.
