FISHING

WEDNESDAY “NISA” OPEN MATCH

VENUE: LAKE TWO Makins Fishery sponsored by Tackle Guru

DATE: 20th SEPTEMBER 2023

Place Peg Angler's Name Sponsor/Club Weight-lb/oz

1st B15 Andy FINDLAY Preston Innovations 213-15

2nd A11 Martyn CARPENTER 174-03

3rd A21 Tom BATTERBEE Castle Donington 156-12

4th B19 Phil HUNT    Grenadier Guards 71-01

The appalling weather, an extremely strong and gusting SW wind with constant rain showers, obviously had a detrimental effect on attendance, but did not affect the fishing, as once again there were some excellent weights recorded with a variety of methods producing the goods on the day. Andy Findlay drew peg B15, and starting on the method feeder and casting to the island caught carp steadily throughout the early stages before switching to paste in the edge to add several more decent carp, ending with 213-15 for the win. Newcomer Martyn Carpenter was on peg A11, and he also caught steadily on pole (2+2) and pellet to amass 174-03 to take second place, with Tom Batterbee (peg A21) in third with 156-12Tom caught on the pole fishing shallow and on the feeder fished to the island.  Organiser Phil Hunt took fourth place with 71-01 from B19, catching all his fish on the feeder fished in his margins, with the remainder not bothering to weigh, instead beating a quick retreat to avoid the weather.

Many thanks to Phil Hunt for running the match, and to Andy Findlay for choosing the match pegs and assisting with the weigh-in. The photo shows "the Fin" with a magnificent old warrior that was part of his catch. Hopefully, the weather will improve before next week!

NB.  Nisa Opens are held every Wednesday on Lake Two at Makins Fishery (see Facebook "Nisa - midweek open matches" to book a place).
