Not got much
brass? Our FREE
concerts
mean you’ll be sound
A summer of music across Erewash continues in July and August with park concerts by brass bands plus a huge treat for jazz fans. And it does not matter if you do not have much brass – because the events are all free. On Saturday 15th July, leading jazz pianist and singer Wendy Kirkland takes to the stage at 2pm in Ilkeston’s Victoria Park. The Observer has described her repertoire of swing, Latin, funk and soul as “terrific”. Wendy has been compared to jazz legends Diana Krall, Blossom Dearie and Nina Simone.
More 2pm Sunday Bold as Brass concerts will be held at Stanley (23rd July), Ilkeston’s Victoria Park (30th July), Breaston (6th August) and Long Eaton’s West Park (13th August). The finale will be on Saturday, 19th August when Ilkeston Brass Band perform at the town’s Erewash Museum. Erewash Council Deputy Leader Cllr Becca Everett, Lead Member for Community Engagement, said: “There is no better way for music lovers in the borough to spend a relaxing summer afternoon.”
